Summer Program Teachers

Description: Located on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Vineyard Haven, MA, Vineyard Montessori School is located within walking distance of the ferry and offers a creative, balanced, and dynamic program with a variety of options and activities. VMS Summer Program Teachers run the day to day programs for children ages 3 – 9

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Prior experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting.
• Enthusiastic, eager to learn, and open to feedback.
• Able to follow guidance and work effectively under supervision.
• Strong team player with the ability to contribute to group success.
• Comfortable assisting with instruction and leading activities.
• Friendly, approachable, and committed to creating a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the VMS Summer Program team, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing direct supervision and positive leadership to a group of children throughout the day.
• Assisting with instruction and supervision across various program areas and activities.
• Supporting daily operations, including drop-off and pick-up, and maintaining warm, professional interactions with caregivers.
• Actively participating in all staff meetings, required training, and activities.
• Encouraging a respectful and inclusive atmosphere, promoting success and problem-solving among children.
• Supervising all assigned aspects of the campers’ day, including routines, meals, program time, field trips, and downtime.
• Leading or assisting in planned and informal activities as assigned, with flexibility across age groups.
• Ensuring the health, safety, and general well-being of all children in your care.
• Submitting required documentation and reports promptly and accurately.
• Contributing to the evaluation of the season and offering feedback for future improvements.
• Performing additional duties as needed to support the success of the program.

Hours: June 22 through August 14, 2026, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm unless otherwise discussed with Head of School

Pay: $18-$25 per hour depending on experience
