Mission

Vineyard Montessori School offers children an equitable and joyful environment to foster a lifetime love of learning, while partnering with families and collaborating with the community.

Philosophy

Dr. Maria Montessori believed that no human being is educated by another; one must do it oneself or it will never be done. An educated individual, because he is motivated from within by curiosity and a love of knowledge, continues learning long after the time he leaves the classroom.

The Montessori classroom provides a unique range of materials. Guided by a teacher, the child chooses materials through which he can explore and work at his own pace. In the orderly atmosphere of the classroom, the child’s creative energy is freed, and he develops independence, self-discipline and the “habit of work” as he moves with confidence towards a mastery of skills and ideas.

The highly social atmosphere of this environment stems from a unique combination of freedom and structure founded on respect. A Montessori education fosters the fullest development of a child’s potential and provides a foundation for a life of joyful and successful learning.
